Papers of the McLean family of Cincinnati primarily pertain to United States Supreme Court Justice John McLean and his grandson, Ohio lawyer and Captain of the Confederate Army, Nathaniel C. McLean, Jr. Included are biographical material, John McLean's U.S. Supreme Court dockets from 1830, 1831, and 1845 and Nathaniel McLean's personal correspondence, school essays, bar admission certificates, business cards and 1898 appointment book. Photographs include portraits of McLean family members and of Jefferson Davis.
